Hitting cinema screens across the United Kingdom today – October 14 – is Sleeping Beauty, the feature film debut of novelist Julia Leigh. Backed by Jane Campion, the film is a far cry from its fairytale namesake, starring Emily Browning (Lemony Snicket, Sucker Punch) as a university student drawn into a web of lust, desire and prostitution.
The film is released in the UK by Revolver Entertainment, who have a slew of Australian features on their books at the moment, with Snowtown showing at the London Film Festival ahead of a nationwide release and recent Raindance feature Jon Hewitt’s X set for a January 2012 release.
